Things to do in Delhi, when you're up for a day!

What comes to your mind when you hear, Delhi? The national capital, a metro city, traffic jams etc, yes? But no, Delhi is something more than this.

From Mumbai, I took a flight to Delhi, a short trip, so you know you've to preplan your schedule so that you can utilise every single minute of your day.

Travelling to Delhi is never too expensive, you can get flights at cheap rates, also Delhi is quite brilliantly connected with the rail network, every other station has a train to Delhi, also you can get hotels according to your budget from an ordinary one to a 7 star.

As I reached Delhi, the first thing which attracted me was the airport itself, known as IGI, it is one of the busiest airports in the world, it is constructed so well that it can catch anyone's attention, so the first thing you should see is the Delhi Airport!

From the Airport I moved to Hotel, and guess what, the hotel was much attractive as well, I was loving this architecture thing of Delhi.

Travelling in Delhi is not an easy task though, but you have many options to commute, cabs are available, then there is the city bus, best of all is the Delhi Metro, cheap, convenient and comfortable.

I preferred a cab and then moved to Qutb Minar, a bright sunny day with a mild cloud coverage, made it look quite beautiful, till now I realised that Delhi is more about Architecture and culture, these beautiful monuments you can't take your eye off.

Qutub Minar is a minaret that forms part of the Qutb complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Mehrauli.

It was around 14:30 when I left Qutb Minar, again Delhi is also a foodie's paradise, you get such delicious food served here, let it be Indian or Intercontinental, it tastes so good.

After lunch I moved to India Gate, which is a war memorial located astride the Rajpath, on the eastern edge of the ‘ceremonial axis’ of New Delhi, India, a feeling of patriotism strikes you when you see the Amar Jawan Jyoti lit beneath the India Gate, it has beautiful campus, with garden and fountains on all of its four sides.

That was all from my day, went back to the hotel right after visiting India Gate, the hotel served a very delicious dinner.

This was all from my Delhi trip, as it was a very short trip, I was able to cover only two locations, but I guess even these two locations are enough to change one's perception about Delhi, how beautiful the capital of India is, as it is said its better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times, I'd suggest visiting these two places for sure if you are at a one day trip to Delhi and if you love architecture.

Lotus Temple
Humayun's Tomb
Red Fort
Hauz Khas Village
Many other historical places including Tomb of Safdarjang, Agrasen ki Baoli etc.
